BRANCHBURG, NJ – Due to the extended power outages in Somerset County as a result of Winter Storm Quinn and the expected cold temperatures over the next few days, the Somerset County Office of Emergency Management has partnered with the American Red Cross to open a shelter for county residents at Raritan Valley Community College.
The shelter opened as of 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the college's physical education building. RVCC is located at Route 28 and Lamington Road in North Branch. Parking for the shelter will be in Lot 2 in front of the West Building.

Residents in need of transportation to the shelter should contact their municipal Office of Emergency Management. Links to municipal websites can be found at www.co.somerset.nj.us/towns
Residents planning to access the shelter and who feel the need to evacuate their homes with their pets may contact the Somerset County Emergency Operations Center until midnight Saturday at 908-541-5083. After midnight, contact Somerset County Communications at 908-526-2500.
