Somerset County: Teacher's Aide Charged with Sexual Assault Against Student

SOMERVILLE, NJ – A 35-year-old teacher's aide at A Montgomery Township school faces multiple charges in the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old student, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Daniel E. Fowler of Princeton Pike, Lawrence Township, has been charged with 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child, 2nd degree criminal sexual contact, and 3rd degree witness tampering, said Robertson, who provided the following details: 

Montgomery Police were informed on Aug. 30 that Fowler had allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the student while at the East Mountain School; at the time of the assault Fowler was working in the capacity of a teacher's aide at the school.

An investigation by Montgomery Township detectives determined that Fowler had been communicating with the student through a mobile phone application prior to the alleged assault. The communications between defendant Fowler and the student were of a sexual nature. On Sept. 25, Fowler was arrested at his residence without incident, with the assistance of the Lawrence Police department.

Fowler is being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
