NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — One person has been hospitalized with serious wounds and another two injured as a result of a shooting Tuesday night near Throop Avenue, police confirmed in a statement.

Authorities believe that multiple suspects targeted multiple victims. The incident was not random, New Brunswick police Capt. J.T. Miller said. The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 19 in the area of Throop Avenue and Hale Street, police said.

The hospitalized victim is a 20-year-old Somerset man, Miller said, and is currently being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

The two other men, who are 20 and 21 years old, received non-life-threatening injuries, Miller said. He said they live in New Brunswick.

Police described one of the suspects as a tall and skinny African-American male who was covering his face with a black and white bandana, Miller said.
