SOMERVILLE, NJ – More than 40 downtown merchants will help The Hungry Hound celebrate its 15th year in business with canine-friendly contests, giveaways, shopping and dining specials Saturday, July 28th.
Each participating merchant will have a bowl outside their store filled with water to welcome their four-legged guests.
The downtown event is scheduled from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
“”Businesses are also their sponsoring their own contests," said Penny Milligan, owner of the Hungry Hound at 94 West Main St. Verve Restaurant, Bar & Bistro, 18 E. Main St., is giving away a dinner for 3 for the best dressed dog that walks up to the restaurant that day.
Other highlights at the Hungry Hound include ongoing seminars by food representatives with the latest information about your dog’s nutritional needs; the debut of our brand new Cool K-9 cannoli; the latest from the pet fashion runway; drawings for free food and home baked goodies; and a red-carpet event that will be covered by pupparazzi photgrapher Loren Fisher and feature canine A-listers, The Hound’s own Talulah and her co-star, Fritz.
Beginning the week of July 9-14, customers who purchase fresh-baked treats at the Hungry Hound will receive an additional three for free to help commemorate the 15th anniversary of the store, which features dozens of baked goods and pastries made from dog-friendly recipes.
The week of July 28th will feature more giveaways and and anniversary cake for everyone.
The Hungry Hound was founded in 2003 by Milligan, who had a long career in retail but always dreamed of opening her own dog bakery.
“We are super committed to promoting healthy, happy pets through our all-nature homemade treats and dog food,” she said. ”All of our baked goods, as well as our made-to-order birthday cakes, are made on the premises.”
The store also carries a variety of pet toys, fashion and accessories, including a wide selection of collars and leashes.
