SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The township's annual celebration for the Fourth of July is scheduled for tomorrow night on the field between Crossroads North and South middle schools on Kingston Lane.
The free event begins Friday evening at 6 p.m. and will feature the Time Machine, an 18-piece live band as well as food vendors, officials said.
At 9:15 p.m., the fireworks will begin.
Township police are advising residents that there will be increased traffic in and around the school and surrounding neighborhoods.
The streets of Major Road, Kingston Lane and Georges Road will have increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Officers will be stationed in and around the event to assist with traffic issues, police said.
There will be no parking allowed on Major Road near the school, and police anticipate the greatest volume of traffic between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Several thousand residents are expected to participate in one of the biggest gatherings in the community each year, according to police.
The primary location for parking will be Crossroads South Middle School parking lots off Kingston Lane.
Police said there will be no general parking at the Crossroads North parking lots off Georges Road.
Additional parking will be at the South Brunswick Public Library and the Municipal Complex.
In addition, seniors can take a 7:30 p.m. bus from the Community Center in Woodlot Park, according to officials.
The bus can serve about 28 people, according to the township.
