SOMERSET, NJ — In an effort to honor those in Maplewood and South Orange taken by coronavirus, TAPinto Franklin/Somerset is joining Loved and Lost, a statewide media collaborative with a goal to name and celebrate the life of every New Jersey resident who died of COVID-19. Currently, more than 15,000 residents have succumbed to the disease.

Loved and Lost is being coordinated by the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University, and is funded in part thanks to a grant from The Nicholson Foundation.

News outlets and freelance journalists all across the state are participating. Use this online form to submit the name of a New Jersey resident who died of COVID-19; the Loved and Lost team will add their name to the wall of names on LovedAndLostNJ.com. Currently, the project does not include former New Jersey residents. If you have any questions about the project, please email the project team at info@lovedandlostnj.com.

TAPinto Franklin/Somerset hopes to tell the story of many of the area residents stricken and taken from us during this pandemic.

The project originally began as an effort led by NorthJersey.com/The Record. As the number of deaths increased in our state, the Center approached NorthJersey.com about establishing a statewide partnership in order to make the project more feasible, more inclusive and ultimately more successful.
