Adult chess (open play) - Studies show that playing chess can hone strategic planning, spatial analysis, and non-verbal reasoning skills. The royal game is also a fun pastime and a great way to get out of the house and meet some new people. So, what are you waiting for? We provide the chess boards, all you need is a desire to play.

This drop-in adult chess group is open to beginner through advanced level players, and registration is not required.

Tuesday, Aug. 15

Franklin Township Public Library 

The KCC Variety Magic Show for Kids -The amazing Kevin Carr will astound you with magic, juggling, hat tricks, plate spinning, audience participation, and even balancing objects - can he balance a cane on his chin? A hat on his nose? A chair on his forehead? Be ready for loads of laughs!!!  Please register beginning two weeks in advance. Adult must accompany children younger than 11 years.

Fire district No. 3 will hold its monthly meeting at 138 Shevchenko Avenue at 7 p.m.

Community Market Analysis Study 

Special Township Council Meeting to present the Community Market Analysis Study. During the meeting, township officials will discuss and seek feedback on the recommendations which will be presented during 4Ward Planning's presentation of the Community Market Analysis Study.

The focus of the study will be the Hamilton Street Business District and Davidson Avenue section of town.  

Thursday, Aug. 17

Franklin Township Public Library 

Daria’s World Music Concert for Children - Our Winter Reading Program 'Read Around the World' kicks off with Daria's World Music Concert for children of all ages! Daria will bring her collection of musical instruments from around the world so that children can play along with her, making a unique orchestra. This concert is always lots of fun!

Franklin Park Branch 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Sit n' Knit (or Crochet) - Join us for knitting, or crochet. Do you have a UFO (unfinished object) in the back of your closet? Dig it out and bring it along! We'll give you the encouragement you need to turn that UFO into a finished project. Get some help with your works in progress. For teens to adult.
