The Township Council meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at the Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane. These meetings are open to the public and public input on any subject is accepted.

Zoup!

Zoup! and Sweet Reads will partner to benefit children and their literacy efforts during a charity event at 120 Cedar Grove Lane from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Zoup! will be offering up a bowl, of its "award winning soup and a big hunk of bread and a fountain drink for just $5" to patrons. All proceeds from the event will go to Sweet Reads to help with its mission. Zoup! is also having its grand opening Thursday at 11 a.m.

Drop in Craft! Franklin Park Branch from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by the library for a quick craft . . . Don't forget to pick up your summer reading prizes and more books to read while you're here! Ages 3-12. Registration is not required.

Somerset County Young Professionals (SCYP)

If you are a young professional and live in Franklin Township the SCYP wants to meet you at its “Hot Summer Networking Happy Hour” Aug. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Redstone American Grill, 400 Commons Way.

Young Professionals is a diverse network of business people, age 21 to 39, who are in the formative years of careers that will lead them to positions of responsibility and leadership in business and government. 

Somerset County 4-H Fair

The 2017 Somerset County 4-H Fair celebrates its 70th anniversary beginning Wednesday, Aug. 9, continuing on Thursday, Aug. 10 and concluding Friday, Aug. 11 at North Branch Park off Milltown Road.

The fair is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.all three days, with free shuttle buses running from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. each day of the Fair from Raritan Valley Community College on Route 28 in North Branch.

UNION, NJ – A Baltimore man ended up taking his own life in the Hillside Police Department after he was arrested for a suspected attempted carjacking in Union Friday afternoon.

Bridgewater Police: Avoid Mall for Ongoing Police Investigation

UPDATE: According to a Nixle alert from the Bridgewater Township Police Department at 9 p.m., the investigation at the mall has been completed, and the mall will be resuming normal business operations.

Police emphasized that there is no immediate threat to the public and no injuries were reported.
