NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for several New Jersey counties, including Somerset.
The warning comes as a powerful storm continues to roar across the tri-state area, carrying potentially damaging winds and heavy rain.
The watch, which also covers Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean and Hunterdon counties, will be in effect until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has also issued a wind advisory for coastal Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May counties in New Jersey, as well as eastern Monmouth County. The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
The region could see 1 to 2 inches of rain by Monday night.
