FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - At 10:20 a.m. the Franklin Township Police Department received reports of a motor vehicle crash on Easton Avenue, according to a press release.
When officers arrived on the scene they found two vehicles involved, one of which was overturned on its side with the driver entrapped.
According to the press release, the investigation revealed that a 2007 Honda Civic collided with a 2002 Honda Civic. The 2007 Honda Civic was operated by a 25-year-old male (from Somerset), traveling southbound in the right lane of Easton Avenue. The 2002 Honda Civic was operated by a 19-year-old female (from East Brunswick) traveling northbound on Easton Avenue and made a left turn onto Oakland Avenue. The vehicles collided, causing the 2002 Honda Civic to overturn on its side.
The 19-year-old male driver was briefly entrapped, police said.
The release said, officers of the Franklin Township Police Department Patrol Division and Traffic Bureau responded and were able to assist Rivera out of the vehicle without extrication. Firefighters from the East Franklin Fire Department also responded to the scene. RWJUH Emergency Medical Services responded and evaluated the male driver, who refused medical aid.
Partial lane closures on Easton Avenue for approximately 40 minutes during the investigation and subsequent clean-up, were reported.
