SOMERSET, NJ - The Warrior For Life Scholarship Foundation (WFLSF), in conjunction with, the Franklin Youth Initiative (FYI), will be holding the 1st Annual Graduation Conference on Sunday, June 17th, 2018 from 12 pm - 3 pm at the Franklin Township Community and Senior Center.

This event will provide valuable resources to the students and families of Franklin Township focused on pre-college programming, post high school planning, and career readiness.

As a scholarship foundation, we are charged with encouraging our students to aim high for their post-high school plans. We firmly believe that surrounding students with like-minded peers and community members is one of the many seeds of encouragement we must plant. This memorable event will be beneficial as we continue to prepare our students and engage them in meaningful conversations and activities that promote college/career preparation and awareness.

Our graduation conference will offer the opportunity for local organizations to provide insight and overview to pre-college programming and/or business opportunities, with on-site interviews and giveaways.

The event setup will be similar to a “college or career fair.” Representatives from local organizations and businesses will be assigned a table and have the opportunity to speak with students, parents, and families as they visit throughout the conference.

We will also have student workshops, presented by our scholarship recipients from last year, on topics specific to high school students. The student workshops will prepare upcoming juniors on “What to Expect in Senior Year”, and for graduating seniors there will be workshops on “What to Expect in the First Year of College”. These workshops will be student-led, interactive, and encouraged to have audience engagement.

We will close the conference with a panel discussion with alumni and community members encouraging a student Q & A.
