Mississippi Freedom Summer: Race, Religion and Resistance at Franklin Library (Somerset)

Visit the Franklin Township Public Library on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00 pm for a presentation about Mississippi Freedom Summer.  Brooks Smith, who volunteered in Mississippi with the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in the summer of 1964, will discuss his experiences and the importance the event played in civil rights history.   Smith is a North Plainfield resident and retired Presbyterian minister.  This program is appropriate for teens and adults.

This is a free program and open to the public.  Registration is requested but not required.  Sign up via the Library’s online events calendar at www.franklintwp.org or call (732) 873-8700 ext. 111. The Library is located at 485 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ, in the Franklin Township municipal complex.
