Somerset CROP Walk

We need your help, and your feet, on Sunday, October 20th to participate in the 46th annual Somerset CROP Walk for hunger sponsored by Church World Service.

Registration for the 6-mile (10-kilometer) CROP Walk will begin at 1 p.m. at Somerset Presbyterian Church, 100 JFK Boulevard, and the walk will start at 2 p.m.  We also offer a 2- mile mini-walk. All are welcome to join us as we take steps in the fight against hunger.

CROP means Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.  Sponsored by Church World Service, CROP Walks are interfaith community events held nationwide to raise money and awareness for hunger. The walks symbolize the miles that many people have to walk to meet their basic needs, such as getting food or water. Each walk may designate a local hunger organization to receive 25% of the proceeds. For the Somerset CROP Walk, we have chosen the Franklin Food Bank.

Walkers will be seeking contributions from sponsors.  Last year participants in the Somerset CROP Walk raised over $4,000.  Over the past 45 years Somerset walkers have raised more than $196,000.

Participants in the walk are also asked to each bring an item of nonperishable food for the Food Bank such as peanut butter or tuna.

All are welcome to participate in the Somerset CROP Walk.  Individuals, as well as houses of worship and organizations, are welcome to join us.

For more information, to register to walk or to make a donation, please contact the Somerset Presbyterian Church office at 732-249-8674 or visit www.crophungerwalk.org/somersetnj
