Travel Tips For The Jet Setter & Jewelry Lover

"You deserve to look good and feel good on your well-earned vacation. Depending on where you're traveling, mix it up and throw in some fun, fashion pieces along with your favorite daily pieces."

- Dr. Peter

  • No matter where you’re traveling or for how long, keep in mind a vacation is a break from routine and daily worries. For most leisure travel, the simple rule is don’t bring anything you’re going to worry about losing and isn't insured. Stick with a few fun, versatile pieces- hoops or dangles, easy to wear bangles and/or a necklace that you can sleep in.
  • Depending on your destination and activities, it’s often best to leave your engagement ring at home and wear just your wedding band. Or consider a swapping it out for a less expensive but equally meaningful travel ring. This can be a sensible diamond band or an all gold or sterling silver band.
  • Maybe you still want the look of your diamond engagement but don’t want to risk your own. Consider a look-a-like engagement ring at a fraction of the cost. Simulated diamond rings can play the part of your pricier and more emotionally precious diamond jewelry. We recommend Lafonn rings that start at just $75. See the collection HERE.
  • Use a travel pouch made specifically for jewelry. A good travel jewelry pouch will have separate compartments and will lay flat for easy packing. We recommend storing jewelry in additional Ziploc baggies within your travel pouch to keep things organized and tangle free.
  • Be weary of hotel safes. There are generic unlock codes that thieves are aware of and know to target.
  • Beware of wearing jewelry during your water activities. Chlorine and saltwater are not jewelry friendly and can cause discoloration and in some cases, breakdown of the metal.
  • Make sure you are protected with an up-to-date appraisal for your insurance policy.
