TAPinto "Spotlight on Business" features local businesses and their owners who are vested in the community at large.
These businesses which will be featured make it possible for TAPinto Franklin Township to bring free daily news to its readers, by sponsoring our site. Follow this series to receive a fresh perspective on small business owners and their unique offerings while shining a spotlight on their stories.
This edition features Carletta O. Beckwith, CPA LLC, which is a firm that provides income tax preparation, tax planning, and financial planning services.
"I am both a certified public accountant and certified financial planner," Beckwith said. "I am able to service all of my client's financial needs and concerns. For example, if someone were getting a financial plan prepared, they would tell the client to discuss the tax planning section with their CPA. The approach is not seamless since a lot can be lost in the transmission. With the expertise of both disciplines, it enables me to improve planning process from the onset due to the full visibility and expertise to act on the information."
Beckwith is also an active member of the community and believes it is her responsibility to give back. She participates in various walk-a-thons in which she has raised thousands of dollars to support breast cancer research. Beckwith also serves as the community service chairperson at her daughter’s school where she has helped to raise thousands of dollars to organizations in need.
Last year, Beckwith started a partnership with Somerset Community Action Program (SCAP) by providing a series of free financial planning workshops focusing on budgeting, debt reduction, asset accumulation, and consumer protection. The program has been extended and will run monthly workshops for the rest of the year, at SCAP's new headquarters.
