The 6th grade students of Ying Hua International School, Kingston joined residents at Brandywine Living at Princeton on Friday, February 7th for a Valentine's Day art lesson and craft.
Students and seniors learned about the art of decoupage. The art dates back as far back as the 12th century in China where creating paper cut-outs in vivid colors to decorate windows, lanterns, gift boxes and other objects was common. After learning the history of the art everyone took part in making beautiful decoupage hearts.
“They really came out beautiful, I’m going to hang mine up in my room,” said Brandywine resident Mary Hemmer.
Some of the students said they were going to give their creations to family members on Valentines Day. It was an educational and heartfelt morning at Brandywine Living at Princeton.
