Franklin families will see many similarities between the current CARE Program and the one which will be operated by the Y next year. The locations will remain the same, at six elementary school sites: Conerly Road School; Claremont Elementary School; Elizabeth Avenue School; Franklin Park School; Hillcrest School and MacAfee Road School. The morning session will continue to begin at 7:00 a.m. and the evening session will end at 6:30 p.m. While there will be some new faces in the CARE program, we anticipate that some CARE staff members will continue working with the students and families that they have built relationships with in the past. The CARE day will continue to consist of a variety of activities, art/crafts, board games, STEM activities and sports. Daily snack and homework help will be available.

The rates for the Program are available on the district website. Also on the website, is information on financial assistance available through traditional sources as well as the YMCA organization. Families who qualify may receive support from a variety of sources. The YMCA will be able to extend services to Pre-K families for the AM hours, which had not been previously offered. Going forward, additional services may also be offered in grades Pre-K – 5 during times that the schools are on holiday break.

“We are pleased that the Franklin Township Branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA will be able to offer before and after care services to our students next year,” said Superintendent of Franklin Township Public Schools, Dr. John A. Ravally. “In the coming weeks, the YMCA will be working closely with District staff to insure a seamless transition of the CARE Program. We will also provide the community with information regarding how to take full advantage of all the benefits that the program has to offer.
