SOMERVILLE, NJ - Looking to learn more about the candidates running for Somerset County Sheriff and Somerset County Freeholder?

Well, thanks to the League of Women Voters of the Greater New Brunswick Area you will have your chance during a candidates forum scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16 from 7 pm to 9 pm. 

The event will be held at Somerville High School Auditorium on 222 Davenport Street.

Melonie Marano (D) and Patricia Walsh (R), both of Greenbrook, are running for freeholder, Walsh is the incumbent. Marano and Walsh will answer questions from 7 pm to 8 pm. 

North Plainfield Police Chief Bill Parenti (R) of Watchung and Franklin Township Police Lieutenant Darrin Russo (D-retired) are running for sheriff. Parenti and Russo will answer questions from 8 pm to 9 pm.

"Members of the public are encouraged to attend to hear the views of the Democratic and Republican candidates before they vote on November 5," the LWV said in a news release. 

Attendees are asked to enter through the side entrance on Orchard Avenue as SHS.
