SOMERSET, NJ - Families arriving at the Franklin Food Bank Thursday afternoon to pick up groceries were treated to a fresh homemade pizza and face masks courtesy of Assemblyman Joseph Danielsen and his staff.
“These are challenging times for everyone coping day to day with the pandemic,” Danielsen said in a news release. “My staff and I seized an opportunity to put smiles on residents’ faces and pitch in to support the work of the Franklin Food Bank. Pulling together and helping your neighbor is what this time is all about.”
Each pizza, 60 in all came with 10 face masks, according to Danielsen.
“Food banks are struggling across the state to maintain supplies and deliver meals to families in need,” Danielsen said. “They are all doing their best to provide for our communities, and we must all do what we can to support them with donations, volunteering and anything else we can do to help.”
On Saturday, the Township of Franklin and the Franklin Township Food Bank will offer a virtual Indian music concert to raise funds that will benefit the Food Bank.
“Jwala 4 Jersey” will feature NJ-based band Jwala, the members of which will perform a live Bollywood and Indian multilingual music session along with a few songs performed in English. The concert will be live-streamed on Facebook Live on the Franklin Township Food Bank’s Facebook Page.
