SOMERSET, NJ - The Stage House Tavern quietly kicked off its Summer Spoons program to benefit the Somerset County Food Bank Network on Saturday, July 20.

The old doctor's office has been transformed into an ice-cream shop dispensing soft serve vanilla, chocolate, and twist with a choice of chocolate or rainbow jimmies.

"The Ice cream is free for all kids in the neighborhood and beyond," Stage House Tavern Partner/Executive Chef Donald Erickson Jr. told TAPinto in an email. "We are however asking parents and adults to make a donation. The donation could be whatever they feel is right and will be donated."

Erickson says the Summer Spoons program will also benefit the Torch Run for Special Olympics. All proceeds will be donated, and the shop will be open from 7 pm to 10 pm ending on Labor Day.

During the summer months donations to the food bank network slow down, and Erickson hopes donations through the Summer Spoons program will help keep shelves stocked with much-needed goods.
