SOMERSET, NJ - The public is invited to attend a youth center presentation at the municipal building March 20 at 7:30 pm.
The subject of the presentation will be the construction of a youth center and parking lot to serve the youth center, according to an alert from the township.
The youth center will be constructed at 429 Lewis Street, and plans are on file in the office of the Planning Board, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset, New Jersey for public inspection between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday – Friday.
The youth center is projected to cost between $13 million and $14.6 million, according to Martin Kimmel, one of the architects for the facility. The proposed youth center would be built on a 40,000-square-foot parcel of land.
The design of the center was based on feedback collected by key stakeholders.
More than 13,000 square feet will be set aside as active space in which attendees can have room for community events, group exercise programs, music/video production and many other activities.
Office space for counseling and public areas for gathering would be available for the community. A library and outdoor space are also slated for the facility.
