NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The first babies born in 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital were twins Jade Eloni and Jasmine Elle Mayes.
Older sister Jade (5 pounds, 2 ounces) arrived at 12:39 p.m. on Jan. 1, and Jasmine (5 pounds, 1 ounce) followed shortly after at 12:55 p.m.
The proud parents, Joelle Criss and Darius Mayes, had an anticipated delivery date of Jan. 27, but the twins had other plans.
According to Darius, Joelle just completed a routine check-up on Dec. 30 and everything seemed on schedule.
The couple finished a small New Year’s celebration at 3 a.m.
When Joelle began to go into labor at 5:30 a.m., the couple went to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
