SOMERSET, NJ - The Class of 2020 graduated from Central Jersey College Prep Charter School today in a unique outdoor event held in the school's parking lot. Yesterday CJCP held similar ceremonies for the kindergarten and fifth-grade class.
COVID-19 restrictions did not allow the school to hold its traditional event this year so, with help from local officials, the administration devised an outdoor event plan in which all students could attend with their families.
Attendees parked their cars facing a stage to listen to Chief Education Officer Dr. Namik Sercan, other school officials, and honored students.
Sercan reminded students that not even a pandemic can keep CJCP students down.

"You have been through challenges this year due to Covid-19 like no other 8th grade class had to deal with ever before," Sercan said. "But, no matter what, you thrived and our community overall flourished as we have accomplished so much in this unchartered territory collectively. For example, the number of our middle-school students who have successfully completed high school classes has increased drastically. We have proven once again that nothing can stop our students from learning and growing."
CJCP 8th Grade Graduation Coordinator, Jania Bibighaus read the names of all of the students who received special awards this year.
