NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A 19-year-old Franklin Township man has been charged in the murder of a New Brunswick man on Dec. 23, 2019, police said.
Kerron Parker of the Somerset section of Franklin, was arrested and charged with the murder of Sharif Austin, 21, according to a press release from Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department.
Parker was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, both second degree crimes.
The charges were filed following an investigation by Detective Erika DiMarcello of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the release, Parker shot Austin at about 11:55 p.m. on the corner of Lee Avenue and Handy Street.
Austin was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he died on Dec. 24 from his injuries.
