SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Saint Joseph High School held its commencement ceremonies, including a baccalaureate mass and graduation, on Sunday, May 19, at The Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield in honor of the Class of 2019.   

Saint Joseph has announced the following statistics: 

  • Class of 2019 collegiate scholarships totaled $34 million.
  • 100 % college acceptance
  • 83% of seniors received a college scholarship
  • 75% of students receiving scholarships to four-year colleges received offers in excess of the four years tuition at Saint Joseph High School.  

This year seniors Matthew Vergel (Somerset) and Michael Botting (Piscataway) were named Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively.  According to school officials, the students earned their position at the top of their class “through their exhaustive hard work and dedication over the past four years.”

Vergel will continue his studies at Johns Hopkins University while Botting will head to the University of Alabama.

Saint Joseph High School (145 Plainfield Ave., Metuchen) is a private, Catholic all-boys college preparatory school located on 70 acres operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, who have been active in American education since their arrival from Lyons, France in 1847.
