SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Local talents Garry Pastore and Mike Marino are starring in Silent Partners, a new series produced by Ciro Depagio that chronicles the life of Gambino Captain "Fat Dave" Iacovetti, played by Pastore.
Depagio, best known as the creator and a lead actor in the award-winning YouTube series The Mob King, is bringing the story to life. It is based on the real life exploits of the Gambino crime family in South Florida, where most of the Silent Partners series was filmed. Depagio grew up on the streets of Miami, where he was exposed to members of crime organizations. He uses his personal experience to create authentic portrayals of organized crime figures and has raised significant financial backing for executive producer Barry Minoff for his latest project.
Set in 1980’s South Florida, Silent Partners tells the compelling true story of an insurance firm that served as a front for a mob-run operation, and how the business went rogue when it partnered with an renegade Cosa Nostra member.
Whilte most of the story was shot in Florida, a critical scene filmed by Emmy winner Jorge "Jokes" Yanes was recently shot in Pastore's backyard in Scotch Plains. Pastore takes on the role of Fat Dave, while Marino plays mob lieutenant Little Leo.
"You just never know where these pilots wind up or what network they land on," said Pastore in an interview with TAPintoSPF. "As of right now, Netflix and Amazon both share an interest in it as Mob King may go from a web series to a streaming series."
Pastore also enjoys working with friends, including comedian and Scotch Plains native Mike Marino into the project.
"I invited my buddy Emilio DiFabio down to Miami when we were shooting. He wound up getting a small cameo in the pilot," Pastore said.
For more local flavor, Ronnie Marmo, a native of Woodbridge currently starring as Lenny Bruce in the Off -Broadway play I'm Not a Comedian, plays Nick Moretti, an informant who ingratiates himself with mob bosses.
Other credited actors include: James Russo (Frankie Cutts); Antoni Corone (Kofax); Barry Jay Minoff (Meyer Lansky);
Joseph D'Onofrio (Dave Iacovetti Jr.); London Grace (Sophia); Paul Mormando (Benny Blades); Celine Alva (Maria).
