Edison, NJ – An early morning shooting during a Reggae event held at Akbar Restaurant, located on Cortland Street in Edison, has left one man dead and another seriously injured.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said a Newark man has been fatally shot and another man from Newark remains in critical condition after being shot in the township early this morning.
According to authorities, a male, 31 years of age, from Newark was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until notification has been made to his family.
Another 40-year-old man from Newark, was also shot, taken to the hospital and remains in serious condition.
Police were alerted to the shooting at approximately 1:56 am.
The investigation is active and is continuing. The shooting is being investigated by Detective Loren Long of the Edison Police Department and Detective Michael Connelly of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
