SOMERSET, NJ - An early afternoon fire displaced a family of four.
According to a news release a 9-1-1 call to police reported a structural fire on Ray Street at approximately 12:07 PM.
Police arrived at the scene and reported heavy smoke coming from the residence.
"It was quickly determined that all of the home's occupants had exited safely," FTPD Lt. Phil Rizzo said in a statement. "Firefighters from Community, East Franklin, North Brunswick and the City of New Brunswick responded to the scene and extinguished the fire."
Police say the home was deemed uninhabitable, and the American Red Cross is assisting the four residents with temporary shelter.
The Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention are conducting an investigation.
"The initial investigation revealed that it does not appear to be suspicious in nature," Rizzo said in a statement. "No one was injured as a result of the incident."
