SOMERSET, NJ - A 20-year-old unidentified local woman is listed in critical condition following a shooting in the area of Phillips Road and Matilda Avenue, according to a news release.
Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired Tuesday evening at approximately 7:20 pm. Officers responding to the call found an unconscious woman in the driver's side of a vehicle, according to officials.
"Once officers observed that the female driver had been shot, she was removed from the vehicle and with the assistance of medical personnel, emergency lifesaving measures were initiated," Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a news release.
The victim was transported to an area trauma center and is listed in critical condition, police say.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit, and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to conduct the investigation which remains active and on-going, according to officials.
Somerset County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this shooting.
