SOMERSET, NJ - A 25-year-old New Brunswick resident was shot once while in the area of Somerset Street Monday morning, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Police patrolling the area of Somerset Street were notified at approximately 9:22 am that a shooting had taken place in the area, according to Robertson. Officers confirmed the shooting, and were notified that a male victim was receiving treatment for a single gunshot wound at an area hospital, according to police.
The unidentified victim transported himself to an area hospital for medical treatment police say.
"Preliminary investigation has revealed that the shooting was an isolated incident with the victim being the intended target," Robertson said in a news release. "No arrests have been made, the investigation surrounding the motive and events leading to the shooting remain active."
