SOMERSET, NJ - Police are seeking the public's help in a homicide investigation, according to a news release.
Officers responded to a suspicious activity call on Wednesday, April 29 at approximately 6:38 pm at a home on Park Street, according to authorities.
"Responding officers made contact with numerous individuals near the residence who relayed to officers that they had located a body in the wooded area towards the rear of the residence," Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a statement. "Officers confirmed the presence of a deceased individual and secured the area as a crime scene."
Detectives classified their investigation as a homicide, according to authorities. Police say the victim is an adult African American male, and "believed to be a resident of Park Street."
"An autopsy is scheduled to be performed to determine the cause and manner of death, along with positive identification and proper next of kin notification," Robertson said in a statement.
Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and Investigators from the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded to conduct the investigation.
