WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Three Franklin High School graduates died from injuries suffered in a Friday night car crash according to a NJ.com report

"Franklin has been strick with a tragedy, Mayor, Phil Kramer said in a social media post. "Three young women, Brianna Martinez, Michaela Powell, Uchechukw Chukwuma, all from Franklin, died last night in a horrible motor vehicle accident."

Chukwuma, 24 and Powell, 23, died in the crash just before Midnight on Friday, while Martinez, 23, who was driving, died shortly afterward, police said.

Police say Martinez was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima and rear-ended a stopped tractor-trailer on Route 1 northbound in Woodbridge, just south of the on-ramp to the Garden State Parkway.

The crash remains under investigation.

"Our hearts are broken," Assemblyman Joe Danielsen said in a social media post. "Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers."

"May their memory be a blessing to inspire us," Somerset County Freeholder, Brian D. Levine said in a social media post.
