SOMERSET, NJ - Two men have been charged with attempted murder following a September 12, 2018 shooting in Franklin Township on Franklin Boulevard.
Dyshawn O. Williams, 23, and Sekuann D. Copeland, 22, of Bound Brook, were each charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in relation to the September shooting, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
On Sept. 12, 2018, a 911 call was received reporting shots fired in the area of Franklin Boulevard in Franklin Township, according to Robertson. Police say when they arrived at the scene officers located a victim with a gunshot wound to his hip.
"The victim stated that he was driving when an SUV began to tailgate him and then pulled up alongside his vehicle," Robertson said. "The front seat passenger of the SUV then began shooting at him."
The investigation led police to Copeland and Williams as being present in the SUV at the time of the shooting, according to Robertson.
Police say, on January 3, 2019, Williams was located with the assistance of detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department and placed under arrest without incident. On January 4, 2019, Copeland was located with the assistance of the Manville Police Department and placed under arrest without incident, according to police.
