SOMERSET, NJ - An unidentified local man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound was found in a vehicle in the area of Oak Place early Saturday morning according to police. 

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said police are investigating the shooting.

"On May 16, 2020, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Franklin Township Police Officers responded to the area of Oak Place for a 9-1-1 call reporting gunshots coming from the direction of Route 27," Robertson said in a statement. "Responding officers located a vehicle containing damage consistent with gunshots. An adult male victim was located inside the vehicle suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound."

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and has been released, according to Robertson. 

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
