Attendance down at the Sports Show Slightly due to the Unseasonably Warm Weather Outside

OLEAN, NY -- The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce deemed the ninth annual Greater Olean Area Outdoor & Rec Sports Show held this weekend a success with more than 2,000 visitors.

Sunday’s attendance was 300 less than last year.  The show, which featured 50 vendors, was held at the Good Times of Olean Events Center.

“This show provided attendees with a wonderful opportunity to learn about outdoor recreational choices, search for and purchase recreational equipment and accessories, as well as plan experiences the entire family will enjoy,” stated Betty Burrows, GOACC program associate.  “The seminars on Spring Gobblers, Walleye Fishing, A Woman’s Guide to Purchasing Firearms, and Kayak Basics had great interest and attendance,” added Mrs. Burrows.

Grandpa Practiced Sustainability

My grandpa was of the Depression Era. Sustainability wasn’t “a thing” back then — it was just the way you lived. He didn’t grow up in a slum or shanty town, but he did understand the ...
