OLEAN, NY – Officials are investigating the causes of two fires that occurred Thursday morning. According to Olean police, both fires appear “suspicious in nature.”

Police said one fire was reported at approximately 1:30 a.m. at 324 N. 13th St., and the other was reported at approximately 3:15 a.m. at 228 N. 7th St. Both residences were vacant at the time of the fires.

The residence on N. 7th Street is a total loss and will be demolished as soon as possible for safety reasons, police said. The fire on N. 13th St. was extinguished, and rear door of the home was damaged slightly, according to police.

The Olean City Fire Department and city Police Department are conducting the investigation into the causes of the fires.
