The Cattaraugus County Board of Elections will offer extended voter registration hours for voters who may need to apply for an absentee ballot, two weeks prior to the general election on Nov. 5 in Little Valley.
The central office, located in the former Little Valley Elementary School at 207 Rock City St., Suite 100, will be open for extended hours on the following days and times:
- Wednesday, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
- Thursday, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m. until noon
- Oct. 28, 9 a.m. -7 p.m.
- Oct. 30, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
- Nov. 2, 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon
Any voter who will be absent from the county due to occupation, education, vacation, has a permanent physical disability or illness that would not allow them to go to the polls on Election Day, or is a caregiver for someone who is ill or physically disabled, is eligible to receive an absentee ballot.
Oct. 29 is the deadline for absentee voters to postmark an application for an absentee ballot. The ballot returned to the Board of Elections must be postmarked by Nov. 4 and delivered to the county board or poll site location by close of polls on Election Day.
Voters wishing to apply for and receive absentee ballots in person at the Board of Elections must do so on or before Nov. 4. In order to be eligible to vote in the general election, residents must have registered by the Oct. 11 deadline, either in person or by mail with an Oct. 11 postmark.
