The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning about scam artists who are making phone calls claiming they are from Olean General Hospital.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the individuals making the calls claim they are updating hospital records and ask for personal information, such as Social Security numbers and bank routing numbers. The calls come from a Boston, New York, telephone number.

The Sheriff’s Office advises anyone receiving the scam calls to refrain from releasing personal information or returning the calls. Individuals should contact their local police agencies if they receive one of the calls.
