Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb was sworn in as the president of the New York State Sheriffs' Association on Jan. 25. Assemblyman Joseph Giglio administered the oath of office while retired Cattaraugus County Sheriff Jerry Burrell held the Bible.

Whitcomb is the first sheriff from the county to be sworn is as the president of the association, which, according to a press release, assists sheriffs in the "efficient and effective delivery of services to the public."
