MACHIAS, NY — Della Moore will give a talk about the African American Center for Cultural Development Thursday at 7 p.m. as part of Cattaraugus County Museum's "Summer at the Stone House" event series.
Moore, the African American Center's director, agreed to switch dates with musician Dave Ruch, who was originally scheduled to perform "Traditional Folk Music of NY, Vol. II” that day. Ruch’s performance has been rescheduled for Aug. 9.
In her talk, Moore plans to discuss upcoming news and events happening at the center and will provide information on the role Cattaraugus County played in the Underground Railroad.
Moore, an Olean resident since 1972, is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and of Temple University in her hometown of Philadelphia. Research, writing and lecturing are her passions. She also is a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library is located in the Stone House, 9824 Route 16 in Machias. All the Thursday summer programs are scheduled for 7 p.m.
