OLEAN, NY -- The Citizens Action Network of Southwestern NY and the Rural Revitalization Corporation need help with setting up a community garden on the grounds of the old AME church at the corner of West Greene and South Third streets.

They are planning a "Blitz Build" on June 30 for installing the first batch of raised beds at the property.  Volunteers are needed to build frames for raised beds, lay out landscape fabric, erect garden fences, shovel soil into the beds, etc. Work will begin around 10 a,m. and continue until the work is done.

Volunteers should bring any of the following tools that they might happen to own:  shovels, rakes,  hoes, wheelbarrows/garden carts, staple guns. hammers, work gloves, drills with both drill bits and screwdriver bits, saws, levels, and post-hole diggers.  A table saw would be very welcome.
