Four emergency food relief organizations in Western New York, including Cattaraugus Community Action, have been awarded funds from the state Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program.
"This funding will help ensure that some of the most vulnerable New Yorkers will continue to be able to put food on their tables and provide for their families," said Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.
Cattaraugus Community Action, which will receive $114,175, is a Salamanca-based organization dedicated to providing opportunities to help vulnerable people achieve economic, physical and emotional security.
The other Western New York agencies receiving funding are the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, $150,529; the Food Bank of Western New York, $2,666,975, and Heart Love & Soul, $175,000.
“This funding ensures that all New Yorkers, regardless of income, will have access to healthy food,” said New York State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker.
