AMITY, NY – State Police arrested a Cuba man Tuesday and charged him with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

Thomas M. Wight, 26, was arrested by the State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation after an investigation of possible sexual abuse. Police said the investigation found that Wight forcibly touched a 16-year-old child. 

Wight was arraigned in the Town of Friendship and remanded to Allegany County Jail on $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond, police said.

According to police, Wight is a teacher at at Arkport Central School and previously had taught at Cuba-Rushford and Fillmore Central schools. The incident that led to the arrest did not occur on school property, police said.
