ALLEGANY, NY – State Police arrested an Allegany man Saturday and charged him with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis.

Police said Gerald R. Loiacono, 41, was arrested after troopers were dispatched to Hays-Anderson Road in Allegany because of a possible dispute.

“During the course of the investigation, cannabis plants were observed growing on the side of the residence owned by Loiacono,” State Police said in a news release. “After a search of the area, a tool box containing over 21 ounces of marijuana along with three large and five smaller cannabis plants were located."

Loiacono was arrested and processed at State Police barracks in Olean. He was arraigned in the Town of Allegany Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail, according to police.
