The state’s county emergency management agencies and the City of New York are eligible for $4.3 million in federal funding to support COVID-19 planning and operational readiness.

To receive the funds, the agencies and New York City must prepare and submit applications to New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services

According to a news release from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, Allegany County is eligible for $10,700, and Cattaraugus County is eligible for $17,558. Funding is based on population; recipients are required to match the federal funds with their own allocations,

"While this funding is a first step in providing local governments with much-needed relief, this situation is far from over, and I will keep fighting to ensure the federal government is providing real financial support to those who have been on the front lines since Day One,” Cuomo said.

The funds may be used to cover costs associated with COVID-19-related planning, training, travel, support from consultants or contractors, equipment purchases and facility construction and maintenance.
