OLEAN, NY -- Roger Pettengill will perform in Lincoln Park Thursday as part of Olean’s summer concert series. The free performance is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Earlier this week, Pettengill shared some thoughts about music and other topics with TAPinto Greater Olean.

TAP: You recently did an outdoor show in Cuba, and you are performing in a park in Olean this week. Do you find much difference between playing outdoors and indoors?

Pettengill: Although there is not a lot of differences I do enjoy playing outdoors. People tend to bring their entire families, play frisbee and have alot of fun. I do enjoy seeing people having fun, and if I can play music in the background while they have a good time, then life is good!

TAP: Along with several other local artists, you are taking part in an evening of original music at The Palmer next month. Will you be performing any of your original compositions in Olean this week?

Peteingill: Yes, I am heading up the songwriter event at the Palmer on July 8, so please keep your eyes open for the show. It is going to be a great event. I normally try to sneak at least one original into my concerts. My goal is to do a lot more writing and do a lot more originals.

TAP: As a performer, what is the strangest thing to ever happen to you onstage?

Pettengill: A few times I have been playing in a bar and have had someone come up and just start a conversation with me right in the middle of a song. And they expect me to talk back to them.

TAP: If you could perform a duet with any recording artist, who would you choose?

Peteingill: Gordon Lightfoot is the whole reason I ever want to play guitar, so I guess I would pick him. Or if I could bring back John Denver, he would be in the running.

TAP: Aside from music, what activities do you enjoy?

Pettengill: Riding motorcycles and getting together with friends.
