HINSDALE NY -- A Florida man was arrested by New York State Police Sunday on Driving While Intoxicated and traffic charges.

Richard H. Ackerman, 63 of Wilton Manors, was arrested for DWI, Aggravated DWI and vehicle and traffic Law violations. 

According to police, state troopers stopped Manors' vehicle on Interstate 86 in Hinsdale after receiving an erratic operator report.

Troopers noticed a strong odor of alcoholic and administered standard field sobriety tests. Following his arrest, Ackerman was processed at the Olean barracks of the New York State Police Department, where he registered a .20 percent blood-alcohol content on a breathalyzer test.

In New York State, the legal limit for blood alcohol content is .08. Individuals can be charged with Aggravated DWI if they register .18 or higher for blood alcohol content on a breathalyzer test. 

Ackerman was arraigned in Allegany Town Court, where he was remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.
