Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce Schedules Outdoor and Rec Sports Show for Jan. 20 and 21

OLEAN , NY -- Whether folks are coming off the big game season, enjoying winter sports, gearing up for spring fishing or looking to spend a fun day with family, the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce expects that they will enjoy its ninth annual Greater Olean Area Outdoor & Rec Sports Show.

The sports show is scheduled to be at the Good Times of Olean Events Center, 800 E. State St.,Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The GOACC notes that the show brings the whole of the great outdoors under one roof.

In addition to the vendors, show organizers have lined up several speakers to touch on a variety of topics.  Steve and Miranda Putt of Country Squirrel Outfitters will present a Basic Rock Climbing Seminar and discuss types of climbing and knots and gear. The Putts also will give show goers the opportunity to try out snowshoes.

Mark Baker,  a rehabilitator/falconer and owner of Eagle Dream Rehabilitation Center, will speak on the center’s primary mission of caring for and rehabilitating injured birds and animals so that they can be released back into nature.

The Franklinville Snowmobile Club, with a mission of promoting safe and responsible snowmobile driving, will be at the show showcasing safety measures such as vehicle maintenance and stressing that drivers should stay on the trails and obey the signs along those trails.

Other featured talk topics will include Turkey Hunting: Calling & Tactics; Walleye Fishing; Kayak Basics, and Property & Wildlife Management.

Admission fees will be $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors citizens. Children 12 and under accompanied by an adult will be admitted for free.
