OLEAN, NY -- Acoustic jams filled the air inside Four Mile Brewing Saturday night with a three-hour performance by singer/guitarist Johnathan Meade and drummer Todd Burgess. The brewery was packed with people who came out to enjoy some live music and craft beer.
On a casual stage set up inside the brewery, Meade and Burgess played through a set list ranging from Johnny Cash to Justin Bieber. They took on the classics like “Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffett and put some twists on current Top 40 hits such as “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes.
The diversity of the set list comes from Meade’s varying taste in genres. He said he typically covers acoustic rock, blues, country, and even disco. Based in Port Allegany, Pa., Meade plays shows for various events and venues such as Four Mile, weddings, birthdays and other bars and restaurants.
Meade interacted with the crowd in between each song. When he broke his guitar string, he joked, “It’s even more shameful that it happened during a Justin Bieber song.”
Among the crowd was a group of St. Bonaventure students who came out for a fun Saturday night. Abbie Koetting, a senior education major, said she really enjoyed the whole atmosphere.
“What’s better than good beer, food, and music?” she asked.
