OLEAN, NY – Chocolate is the winner of the League of Women Voters of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties Favorite Ice Cream Flavor Election conducted during the June 15 StrOlean event.
Youngsters were encouraged to vote for their favorite flavor by completing a ballot and putting it in the ballot box.
“We felt this would be a fun way to introduce young people to the idea of making a choice and voting,” said Margie McIntosh, president of League of Women Voters of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. “Our organization supports the election process. We don’t care who you vote for. We just want citizens to vote.”
The final results were: chocolate, 19 votes; vanilla, 15 votes; cookie dough, four votes; Super Hero, four votes; cotton candy, two votes, and cookies and cream, two votes.
The League of Women Voters distributed 2019 voter guides, voter registration forms and information on upcoming primary elections, and many people signed up to be on the mailing list to be informed of League activities.
